[this is good]
Fu*kin hell! Forgive the expletive....but that is damn good mate! I feel more than a dash of the past in your tone and fluctuations. You might not expect to be well-known in these times, but you can certainly expect to be damn good. I love the spirit within the song.

Thanks!

ed

p.s. just as suggestion, perhaps you could opt to display the song in your post by checking the 'Large' checkbox so that it could be played on the main page instead of having to click to another. Just makes it more tempting to check it out to some - doesn't bother me though.

Very good, very patriotic. I think the Americans hold the manopoly on patriotism (if thats how it's spelt)LOL. A very relaxing tune and well sung.

Hi Musicaldemon..

Glad you like the song.. Actually I played a bit of a game with the song, it's actually a tribute to Elvis... I wanted to write about him in a way that wasn't in your face so to speak... I am a Brit through and through but some things that come out of the U.S are just amazing.... Anyway I really do appreciate the comment.

Have a great day..

Regards Rene Dwight

Born in America [ The Tupelo King ]

He was born in American where the sky's always blue
small town America with the red white and the blue
from the east side of - of Tupelo - hailed the boy to be king
with the voice of an angel and a heart pure and true

In a time of uncertainty he would light up the youth
kind of a miracle an amazing pursuit
he would play on the radio they would dance to the tune
I say god bless America for the songs and for you

Once in a while
Somebody leads us
somebody shows us
that if you believe it

a dream can come true
can come true

Many songs he would give to us though his life would be short
shy Mississippi boy we do sure miss you
I say thanks for the memories the songs that you sang
I say god bless America for the songs and for you

a dream can come true
can come true
can come true

Thanks Ed.. what an amazing comment,, I am gobsmacked... thanks for the VOX tip.. I only joined yesterday and am still getting to grips with it..I only ended up on Vox becuase I had a song I wanted to get to Syco [Simon Cowells label... the BMG woman I spoke to told me to upload the song here, trouble is the particular song is a through and through Christmas tune and I would rather pitch it direct to a named A&R contact. to me it seems daft throwing it out here when it is a holiday targetted and may not be to the taste of the scout that listens... instead I uploaded "Born in America"

I didn't loaded too many tracks here so to hear a couple more check out www.myspace.com/TheBlueCougars or www.myspace.com/ReneDwight

If I get some more interest in the song I will upload a couple more..

Thanks agian.. Kindest regards Rene Dwight

I have to see that I dont like this at all , but have to admit that it is good, well done and marketable.
Find someone to put a video together, collage of photographs and a few wistful shots of countryside and its a winner. Send it to MTV and also sell it on Itunes, there are a lot of old ladies the other side of the pond wanting to give you their dollars.
I
I should have mentioned. If you have a Christmas song you should be pushing that now. Everyone has different timetables, but there are quite long.
(I am just now starting to think about work in September for the Christmas market)
I
I do hear a bit of Daniel O'Donnel in this. I think MTV wouldn't touch this with a good long pole but PBS (American public television) might. Well produced and the singing is good, Rene. Good luck on your efforts to be heard by the right people here on Vox.

Thanks Gnome label, you should work in A&R.... seeing a sellable product even if it is not to your taste is a great assett... Actually saying it is good and not liking it is the biggest compliment you could give someone... I have talked about this before with various folk, picking out songs/acts we don't really like however would sign in a flash if we were a record company.. maybe we should be working with the "Suits" and not the music..

Thanks.. Kindest regards Rene

Sheesh, Rene, you're in the US and you're still up. I didn't think anyone stayed up as late as me...:-)

Hi David,, I have to say I am surprised at how constructive and encouraging folks like yourself have been. to be honest I did't expect this song to be recieved so well... most people think it is a Patriotic song.... it is in fact about Elvis... I deliberatly threw some red herrings into the pot and also I did not want to do an "in your face" tribute.... to be honest the formula has worked a treat wherever I have posted it.... I am not familiar with Daniel Donald but to be compared with any artist is a real compliment... as for production I am still learning...

Have an awasome weekend my friend...

Kindest regards Rene Dwight

The Daniel O'Donnel reference was in response to Gnome's remark that old ladies would like your song. He's an Irish singer of ballads and so forth that older women seem to love and he has specials that play from time to time on PBS.

Hi David..

I live in a Hillbilly shantee town [ is that how you spell shantee ? ] in a place called Tring, Hertfordshire..... I am a Brit mate... for some reason VOX signs me in as a Yank.. I am as American as Arnold schwarzenegger.. I see you do synth/pop .. me also.. I will check out your material right now...

Cheers Rene

Cheers David.. I think I have heard the name but wasn't too sure of his style... Old ladies can have deep purses... Lol.

Cheers Rene

Rene, you will find I don't have any material up yet but I have dozens of tracks in my demo pool so it's just a matter of figuring out which ones are best suited to polishing up and posting here. I also do piano instrumental stuff which will probably go up first because I don't have to fret too much about the mix on those.

I'm almost considering starting another group here on Vox...I might call it "Those Who Have Joined the A & R Group Who Haven't Posted Any Music Yet". :-) I'm actually finding quite a number of people in that category. :-)

You aren't alone in being from the UK and being called American by this website. It seems to happen a lot for some reason.
Rene, if you post some of your synth stuff, maybe I'll post some of mine. Shall we jump in together?

Actually, I shouldn't make any promises, but I will get some up soon.

I'd like to hear some on what you do that old ladies wouldn't like. :-)

Sounds good David, I think I will open a new profile though as to keep the dance project seperate... it is a million miles from my Retro material..

have just uploaded "Tears in The atmospere" this time its for eco warrirors not old ladies... non preachy retro global warming tune..

Cheers Rene

I think this group is already that... so many members, growing each day, they must outnumber those who do post by 300 to 1., but you have got well involved !

It is possible to change from the US, by the profile.edit function

.. Dont get me started on Grannies and the market possibilities of the Grey Pound, I could go on forever...(and I am working on a compilation album called " Granny Dont Download).

Cheers I will change from U.S to UK right now... well you know where to come when you need some tracks to add to it Lol...

Cheers Rene

Hi Gnome Label..

R.e the Christmas song, I have a contact at Peer and one at Crosstown [ publishing on both counts ].. the song is there this week, I really wanted to get it to Syco because those guys really work any song they take an interest in, Also be it good or bad they usually have their hands on the most lucrative artist around the Christmas period... my thoughts were totally mercenary I'm afraid.... still thats how we have to think to get our material heard... anyway the BMG receptionist took her job too literally and simply gave me the Vox details.. would'nt give me a name at Syco... Maybe I can tell the tale if the song is ever picked up in the future...

Cheers Rene

Dont worry about the mercenary thing /We are very much in favour, here, of largish amounts of money passing from large companies to writers and performers,
We only whinge when the money flow is in the opposite direction and involves a third party making promises and doing things that can be done for nowt.

Hi Gnome Label.. How often do the A&R check out the new songs... I can't say it looks like my tracks have been listened to by them.... maybe they are just snowed under with work? or my profile looks scary to them Lol....very frustrating...

Well Indie boy listened to "Tears ion the atmosphere" ... no comment as such but at least he listened... Job done..

Old Spanish customs number 32.... doing the week's work on Friday afternoon
